Doug was born and grew up in San Antonio, Texas.  Has has been married to his wife, Sharon, for thirty-one years.  They have two young adult children, both married, and two perfect grandchildren.  His education includes degrees from Ozark Christian College, Lincoln Christian Seminary, Incarnate Word College, and Texas A & M University.  He has served in the preaching ministry for thirty years and has taught and held positions in several universities.

In the late 1980's Doug had the privilege of studying pottery at the Southwest School of Art and Craft in San Antonio, TX, and the being a protégé for one year under Harding Black, a remarkable master potter in San Antonio.
